Can this punch set be used with stainless steel?

Yes, but with caution. In our testing, we successfully punched 1.5mm 304 stainless steel. The force required was about 20% higher than mild steel, and the cut edge showed a slightly larger burr (0.3mm). We do not recommend regular use on stainless because it accelerates wear. For occasional jobs, it works, but stick to mild steel for the best performance and longevity.

How do I ensure the punch stays sharp over time?

Keep the cutting surfaces clean and lubricated. After each use, wipe the punch and die with a rag soaked in light oil. Store in the included case with a silica gel pack to prevent rust. Never punch material thicker than 2mm, and avoid hardened steels. If you notice the edges dulling, you can send the set back to Rix Tools for re-sharpening (fee-based service). In our 75+ cycles, no sharpening was needed.
